A Start-Up Based in Zurich Provides Perspective

Glass Doc, a Zurich start-up, has developed a procedure to repair glass damage. The method used applies to damage caused by scratches, flying sparks or caustic burns. It has made the company very successful, especially with transport operators.

Development

Glass Doc Schweiz AG together with Glass Doc GmbH Deutschland started research in early 2016. It resulted in the development of a new repair and polishing technique, which now makes it possible to repair not only scratches, but also damage caused by flying sparks. The materials needed are manufactured by Glass Doc itself. The procedure falls into the allowable limits and manufacturer’s tolerances. Many expensive and partially also dangerous works related to the replacement of whole window panes and glazed panels can thus be avoided. Additional advantages include the fact that, compared to replacement, repairs are more environmentally-friendly and can be carried out directly on site and within one day. Compared with glass replacement, this enables cost reductions of up to 90%.

Success

With such an innovative product, success is not late in coming. Already after a very short time Glass Doc won reputable Swiss customers such as Zürich Versicherungen, StadlerRail, Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB), Glas Trösch, Implenia as well as many architects and building contractors. In Germany and Austria the company has only been active since autumn of 2016, but has also already managed to find renowned customers, which include, among others, Deutsche Bahn.
