Newly founded companies in Switzerland (September 2025): Strong Start into Autumn

Strong growth in Northwestern Switzerland

Northwestern Switzerland performed particularly well, recording 972 new companies, making it the second strongest region. This corresponds to a significant increase of 24.30% compared to August and 11.98% compared to September 2024. Within the region, the canton of Bern led with 352 new registrations.

Central Switzerland also saw significant growth, with 679 new companies, which is 17.68% higher than in August and 26.21% above last year’s figure.

Zurich follows the trend

The Zurich region registered exactly 800 new companies. The number remained almost stable compared to August (+0.63%) but was 13.64% higher than in September 2024.

In Ticino, 167 new companies were founded, representing an increase of 9.15% compared to August and 5.03% year-on-year.

Decline in Romandie

In contrast, Romandie recorded a decline despite being the leading region with 1,105 new companies. Compared to August, this is a decrease of 0.99%, and 6.83% less than in September 2024. In the canton of Vaud, 336 new companies were founded, a decline of 7.18% compared to August.

Eastern Switzerland showed mixed results: with 489 new companies, the number was 12.93% higher than in August, but still 1.41% below last year’s figure.

Outlook

As expected, company foundation activity increased noticeably in September. With 4,212 new companies, the result is clearly above last year’s level, underlining the ongoing stability of Switzerland’s entrepreneurial dynamics. A slight further increase is expected for October.
