June Foundation Report: Positive Development Continues
The June 2025 founding report highlights Switzerland’s stable entrepreneurial landscape with increases across all regions, Romandie at the forefront and remarkable growth in Eastern Switzerland.

In June 2025, a total of 4,697 new companies were founded in Switzerland, reflecting an increase of 2.62% compared to May and 2.11% year-on-year. The continued positive development highlights the stability and entrepreneurial engagement in Switzerland.
Romandie Leading the Way
With 1,276 startups, Romandie was the strongest founding region. However, there was a decrease of 3.84% compared to May 2025. In comparison to the previous year, however, the number increased by 0.71%. The canton of Vaud, traditionally the leader in new startups, reported 391 new entries, marking a decline of 10.32% compared to May.
Northwest Switzerland remained the second strongest region with 1,026 startups. This represents an increase of 3.43% compared to the previous month and a 2.19% increase compared to June 2024. The canton of Bern was particularly active, with 409 new startups, showing a rise of 5.14 percentage points compared to May 2025.
Strong Growth in Eastern Switzerland
Eastern Switzerland saw an outstanding increase of 26.29% in startups compared to the previous month. In total, 663 new companies were founded, which is also 7.28% more than in June 2024.
Central Switzerland also showed a positive trend in June, with 679 new startups. This represents an increase of 5.76% compared to May. Particularly noteworthy is the canton of Zug, which reported 297 new companies, marking a rise of 13.79% month-on-month and a 3.85% increase compared to June 2024.
Only Small Changes in Zurich
In Zurich, 880 new companies were founded in June, reflecting a decrease of 2.22% compared to May. However, compared to June 2024, there was a slight increase of 1.97%, underscoring the economic dynamism in Switzerland's largest city.
In Ticino, 173 new companies were founded in June, which represents a decline of 9.42% compared to May. However, compared to June 2024, there was a positive development of 8.81%.
Outlook
Overall, the founding landscape in Switzerland remains stable in June, with a continued increase in new company formations. A slight decline in founding activities is expected in July, as economic dynamism typically slows down during the summer period.
