Strong growth in Romandie
Romandie continues to lead the ranking with 1,479 new companies. With an increase of 15.91% compared to June and 8.99% year-on-year, the region remains particularly strong in new business creation. The leader is once again the canton of Vaud, which recorded 489 new start-ups in July, a significant increase of 25.06% compared to the previous month.
In Ticino, the development was particularly remarkable. The canton reported 229 new companies, an increase of 32.37% compared to the previous month. Year-on-year, this represents a clear plus of 10.63%.
Zurich follows the trend
Zurich also saw growth in July. With 920 new entries in the commercial register, the figure is 4.55% higher than in June and 2.34% higher than in July of the previous year. This underlines the economic activity in Switzerland’s largest economic region.
Central Switzerland recorded 754 company formations in July. Particularly noteworthy is the clear increase of 23.61% compared to the previous year, demonstrating the growing attractiveness of the region for entrepreneurs.
Eastern Switzerland with a mixed picture
Eastern Switzerland recorded 569 new formations, a year-on-year increase of 17.08%, but a month-on-month decline of 14.18%. In the region’s most active canton, St. Gallen, 228 new companies were registered, 17.69% fewer than in June.
Outlook
With 4,988 new companies, July exceeded both the previous month and the previous year’s figure. Nevertheless, a slight decline is expected for August, as business formation activity typically slows during the summer months.
