In November 2025, 4,317 new companies were registered in Switzerland. This figure is 10.2% lower than in October (4,805) and 1.3% below November 2024 (4,373). After two very active months in autumn, there is a moderate slowdown — but the overall level remains high, showing sustained interest in entrepreneurship.
French-speaking Switzerland: still leading, despite a modest drop
With 1,278 new companies, French-speaking Switzerland remains the most active region. It records a 6.7% decrease compared to October, and is slightly below last year’s November level.
The canton of Vaud performs well, while Geneva remains stable. Smaller cantons like Jura or Neuchâtel register more pronounced reductions.
Eastern Switzerland: year-on-year increase confirmed
Eastern Switzerland recorded 528 new company foundations in November. Although the month shows a drop compared to October, the region remains above November 2024’s level. Cantons such as St. Gallen, Thurgau and Graubünden stand out, confirming a positive regional dynamic despite a softer national trend.
Central Switzerland: annual rebound despite monthly dip
With 660 new registrations, Central Switzerland shows a notable monthly decrease, but still posts a gain compared with last year. Cantons like Zug and Schwyz contribute significantly. Lucerne sees a slight drop, but the region remains a major player in Swiss business formation.
Zurich region: relative stability
The Zurich region recorded 805 new companies in November. This is down from October, but remains almost identical to November 2024. This points to relative stability over the long term, even though the monthly dip suggests a temporary slowdown.
Northwestern Switzerland: substantial correction
Northwestern Switzerland saw 875 new companies founded in November — one of the largest declines among major regions, both month-over-month and year-over-year. Cantons such as Bern and Aargau experienced significant declines, while Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft held up better. Overall, the region seems to be taking a breath after several dynamic months.
Ticino: slight decline, back to an average level
With 171 new firms, Ticino experienced a small decrease — both monthly and annual — after a somewhat better October. The result remains modest, with no major long-term shift.
Conclusion: a quieter November, yet Swiss entrepreneurial spirit remains strong
November 2025 brings a softened month following two action-packed months of company formation. While most regions show declines, some — especially Eastern and Central Switzerland — remain above their previous-year levels. Nationwide, entrepreneurial activity remains solid, suggesting that 2025 could still rank among the best years for new company foundations in Switzerland.
